I wanna know what you lot think of these rides,( not for any important reason). As well as pics I just took,( I forgot to snap the underside of the 602, oh well), I've done a recording tonight of them using both peter erskine sticks,( the small ball tip), and 5A's. I do prefer the sound and feel using erskine's. I couldn't play them in the house so believe it or not, I played them in my car, hanging each one off off my middle finger, with my minidisc recorder running, lol!
First there's my 602. I've never really used it. I bought it around the mid 90's for ?70. You can see a 6 digit number stamped near the bell on one pic. I was told the first digit '5' represented the year, so, 1975? And the word 'thin' on another pic. Is it definitely a ride or a 20" crash? Very dark, shimmery thin feel under the stick. Needs a good clean. Anyway, listening to this cymbal again makes me realise how nice it is, and in a way, the Istanbul cymbal winging
it's way to me is almost redundant. Because it's only a bit trashier, but the same wash and pitch. Ah well, I can always sell one or the other.
The K jazz ride I bought also mid 90's I think. I love the bell on this ride. There was some tape under it which I removed a while ago. I don't know why I put tape on. Maybe to try and get a similar dryness as the next cymbal. Not used this K jazz that much either, mostly due to the type of gigs I do. I've never been sure about how much I like this cymbal. I like the midrange tone, but not as much as the even darker K custom dry light ride.
The custom dry light is fabulous! Nice subtle wash which dissipates pretty quick. Defined articulate stick sound, and great feel on contact. Oh and I love the way it looks. I'm not very good at describing cymbals with fancy words, so you can hear them instead

Yeah, nice rides Rudy. I've got a blue label 602 20" flat ride that is just great. It has a bright attack with a nice low shimmer and spread. I have the old Sound Creation stuff too. One of the best rides I have is an 18" Sound Creation flat. That one has even more attack and a darker spread.
And those k custom dry lites are great, they kind of remind me of the Sabian Encore mini-bell Dejohnette rides. Dark with a nice attack and low spread. That weight is, as Steve said versatile. I've been using a 20" Paiste Traditional thin ride as a crash on rock gigs and as a ride on all other gigs.

no_bells,
your 602 and SC's are worth something, as in, collectable. So is my 602. I've gathered this from hanging at cymbalholics, where vintage paiste cymbals like these are mentioned regularly, held in high regard. Of course, it's good to hang on to them, since they sound great and will increase in value over time.
The custom dry light, yep, I love it like steve loves his. You know, there's a sabian ride, the jo jo mayer 21" fierce ride, sounds pretty much identical. That was another choice I had considered before buying this one.
